Museum Mentor wanted at Tenterden Museum

Tenterden & District Museum is looking for a Museum Mentor. Housed in a characterful white weatherboard building, the museum was opened in 1976 and is run entirely by volunteers. Its collections are mainly of local history.

Museum volunteers have recently created a new audioguide and installed new technology to explore the collections. They are making improvements to access and displays and there is an active group researching the local history of Tenterden. The museum’s website is

The Museum Mentor is a voluntary position supporting Arts Council England’s Accreditation scheme. The role provides an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge and skills with the museum and its enthusiastic volunteers. 

To be a Museum Mentor you must have:

•    A minimum of 5 years of working professionally within a museum and with recent experience at a curator/manager level
•    Relevant or linked qualification
•    A commitment to CPD

Mentors generally provide up to 4 days a year support to their mentored museum – including a minimum of two site visits and attendance at one trustees’ meeting.
