AIM Hallmarks learning programmes - last chance to apply

The Museum Leaders programme is for people who lead AIM member museums. It will equip you to:

  • Establish a clear purpose for your organisation and foster a positive organisational culture
  • Lead innovation and change
  • Strengthen your museum’s governance and leadership
  • Become part of a peer network and share ideas and insights
  • Embed the AIM Hallmarks of Prospering Museums in your organisation

The following places are available:

England - 12 places supported with funding from Arts Council England

Wales – 1 place supported with funding from The Federation of Museums & Art Galleries of Wales and AIM

Scotland/Wales/ Northern Ireland – 2 places supported using funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and AIM

The Enablers programme is for people who support museums through their work, for example as Museum Development Officers or as freelancers. It will equip you to:

  • Use consultancy and coaching techniques effectively, to help organisations change
  • Develop your understanding of how organisations work and of the challenges of leadership
  • Build a portfolio of tools to use in your work with museums
  • Become part of a peer network and share ideas and insights

There are 12 places on this programme for people who work with museums in England, supported with funding from Arts Council England.

Course structure: both programmes are based around a series of short residentials, with structured learning between the residential sessions. The Enablers programme also includes an extended period of action learning, tailored to the learning needs of individual participants. Both courses start in Spring 2016. More detailed dates for the programmes are available in the downloads from the AIM website.

Applications are now open and close on 29th January 2016.

There will be a second round of both training programmes in 2017, with applications opening in late 2016.
