Friends of Brading Roman Villa awarded Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
The Friends of Brading Roman Villa have been awarded Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. The museum, on the Isle of Wight, is supported by an active corps of volunteers from the Friends group who work to increase public awareness by promoting, supporting and assisting in the preservation and presentation of the villa, an Accredited museum.
Sometimes dubbed 'the MBE for volunteer groups', the QAVS is a personal award given by Her Majesty the Queen. The aim of the award is to locate and recognise exceptional work carried out by any voluntary organisation working in the community.
Chairman of the Friends of Roman Villa David Reeves said: 'I would like say well done and thank you to all the volunteers past and present for their dedication, enthusiasm and hard work, in giving their time and expertise to enable the Villa to remain one of the UK’s major historical sites.'
