Changes to Accreditation advice and support mechanisms

Arts Council England is making changes to the way Accreditation advice and support are delivered to museums across England, and we are delighted to announce that museums in the South East region will benefit from an enhanced museums development service, as Accreditation advice is brought in-house for the first time.

Accreditation advice was previously delivered directly through the Arts Council, but the Arts Council has now given us additional funding to provide the service ourselves to all museums and galleries in:

  • Hampshire and the Isle of Wight;
  • Kent and Medway;
  • Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire;
  • Surrey, East and West Sussex.

We are in the process of recruiting a part-time Accreditation Adviser to support museums with their Returns, and to work closely with the SE MDOs, the Arts Council’s central Accreditation Team and the Collections Trust, which has been commissioned to deliver a range of Accreditation-focused training workshops. The Arts Council will also retain some key helpdesk/first response functions via the email address.

More detailed information about these changes will published shortly on the Accreditation pages of the Arts Council website.

These are very significant changes, for you, for the Arts Council’s Accreditation Team, and for us, your SE Museum Development Team, and we thank you for your patience while the various elements are finalised.
