Working with Volunteers: online Q & A with Museums Sheffield

Museums Sheffield are having an online Q&A about volunteering, in connection with their Arts Council Funded Cutting Edge Project.

Starting on Monday 17 November, Museums Sheffield will be hosting a week-long online Q&A looking at how museums can develop mutually beneficial relationships with volunteers working within collections management.

Volunteers are currently playing a vital role in Museums Sheffield’s Cutting Edge project, a yearlong initiative of documentation and research designed to improve access to the Sheffield-made cutlery in the city’s Designated metalwork collection. Project Assistant, Leila Prescott has shared her experiences of working with volunteers in a post on the Museums Sheffield blog and is inviting colleagues working in the sector to send in their comments and questions about the process.

Questions can be sent in via the blog’s comments sections, tweeting @MuseumSheffield, or by emailing during the week of 17 – 21 November.  All questions and responses will be shared via the blog.
